Welcome to the first blog post, where we explore the fascinating ancient history of Earth and the human species. Our blog will cover prehistoric times, specifically the three major periods of life: Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic. We aim to make history fun and informative for general readers and students, inspiring a greater interest in our past.

Paleozoic - 550 million to 250 million years ago

Our journey begins in the eons before recorded history, exploring the very origins of life on Earth. The first form of life began under the sea with invertebrates, then vertebrates, and plants. The plant and insects later made their way onto land. The Paleozoic era saw two extinctions before the third one ended this era. 90% of marine species and 70% of terrestrial species abruptly vanished some 250 million years ago. Scientists theorized it was a meteor.

Mesozoic - 250 million to 65 million years ago

The second major era was the Mesozoic. The first flowers bloomed 150 million years ago, and the first birds came 200 million years ago. This era brought dinosaurs and mammals. Around 200 million years ago, there was a fourth extinction event, followed by a fifth major extinction approximately 65 million years later. About 60% of Earth's species have disappeared. A big asteroid has been believed to be responsible for the extinction.

Cenozoic - 65 million years ago to the present

The modern period began after a million years of darkness and acid rain. Trees and plants distribute their seeds and establish roots. The earliest apes appeared 57 million years ago, and the earliest primates—squirrel-like mammals—moved to the trees approximately 60 million years ago. Many mammals have replaced dinosaurs as the planet's largest species.
